Bringing the TRR Cobb House Home
The effort to bring the T.R.R. Cobb House back to Athens has been underway for many years.
Finally, in 2003, the Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation, The Stone Mountain Memorial Association, the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation joined the Watson-Brown Foundation to make the dream a reality.
The site is only two blocks from the original lot and adjacent to the historic Cobbham neighborhood, which gained National Register designation in 1975.
With the site secured and moving plans complete, The Watson-Brown Foundation has assumed responsibility for the renovation, oversight and management of the T.R.R. Cobb site. This will include operating the house as a museum. The lower level of the house will contain 2000 square feet of office space. The Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation and the other original partners will continue in an advisory capacity as the project moves forward
